Moisture BalancesMoisture balances are scientific tools
used to calculate the sample's moisture content. The sample is weighed both
before and after drying, and the difference in weight is used to determine how
much moisture is there. A heated chamber and a sensitive balance are the
standard components of these instruments. The sample is put in the heating
chamber on a tiny plate or tray. The sample is then progressively dried out as
the moisture evaporates after which the heating element is turned on.
Throughout the drying process, the sample's weight is continuously measured by moisture
balances until it reaches a constant weight. |
